Make-it Monday - Little Treats

20200831_143131.jpg

The Little Treat Box dies creates adorable little boxes for all of your goodies! The die set and bundle offers a variety of different images that speaks to the versatility of Stampin’ Up!’s products! This particular project is designed as a wedding favor featuring the beautiful Peony Garden DSP. This project shows off heat embossing (did you know this technique is really what got me hooked on card making?) with the beautiful silver rings on the tag. And could you really finish off a glamorous project without shimmer ribbon and Stella?! Special thanks to Michelle Heim, a Bee Happy Stampers team member, for sharing this beautiful project with us!

JUST CASE IT

SW_CASE_create_Sep1520.jpg

To CASE (Copy and Share Everything) is something nearly every experienced papercrafter does on a regular basis. You see a card in a catalog, for instance, focus on something you like about it, then re-create it with your own spin.

You can add layers or simplify the project, but the main point is to enjoy being inspired by the work of others. Our minds start working when we study and learn from a project someone else has made.

So pick up the catalog and look through the pages until you find something that really makes you want to pull out all your crafting supplies and start working. Copy the project, then use the following ideas to make it your own:

  1. Copy the layout.

  2. Copy the color scheme.

  3. Copy the technique.

If you are looking for a catalog or inspiration for your card making, please reach out to me, I’d be happy to help you out!

Make-It Monday - Arrange a Wreath

Fall is in the air here in Wisconsin and it feels only natural to dig into the earthy tones for our cards! This beautiful “Give Thanks” card is a great card to have on hand as we move into the season of thankfulness. It features the beautiful “Arrange a Wreath” bundle with stunning earth-inspired leaves, flowers, and woods. Special thanks to Wendy Krueger, Bee Happy team member, for her fall inspired design!

POINSETTIA PETALS STEP-BY-STEP

SW_PoinsettiaPetals_create_Sept0820.jpg

CASUAL
To begin creating, stamp the sprig images on the card front in Cinnamon Cider ink. Stamp the flower in Real Red ink and the leaves in Shaded Spruce ink on Whisper White Cardstock. Tip: To create depth, stamp off the Two-Step Stamping flower and leaf dimensional images. Die cut the stamped images and adhere them to the card front. Stamp the sentiment in Cinnamon Cider ink on a Whisper White Cardstock label, adhere the label to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and you have a fabulously festive card in just minutes!

AVID
Step up the second card by adhering Designer Series Paper to the front. Brighten the poinsettia and leaves using Cinnamon Cider, Poppy Parade, Real Red, and Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blends. We also added a sprig cut from Copper Foil Sheets using the Poinsettia Dies. Tip: Fold the ribbon in half lengthwise before cutting the notches on each end.

STEPPED UP AVID
For our fanciest card, we adhered additional flowers and leaves, cut the label using the Tasteful Labels Dies, and added more Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper to the card front. We also took the artistry to an entirely new level by creating more light and dark contrast and expanding the color palette with Mint Macaron and Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends.

Make-it Monday - Campology

20200803_201037.jpg

This one’s a page-turner, literally! The front of this card is simple and beautiful but when you unwrap the linen thread (from the cute little buttons), you are in for a treat! Open the first flap and you are greeted with more stamped images from the “Camapology” set that are spotlighted in the layering circles dies.

20200803_201111.jpg

Then… flip the last flap to check out the card’s interior. Both sides are matted and the left panel is embossed with the Woodlands embossing folder; really gives it the wow-factor. Big thanks goes out to Diane Bogenhagen, a member of my Bee Happy Stampers, for sharing this beautiful card design with us!

Beautiful Autumn Bundle

With nature-inspired imagery in the Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set and its coordinating punch pack, this bundle helps you easily create elegant projects. While lending itself to autumn themes, the stamp set also includes all-occasion greetings to help you share thanks or simply say hello. The Two-Step Stampin’ images combined with the punches make this bundle a must have for creating quick cards.

Make-It Monday - Walk in the Woods

Sometimes you don’t need a bunch of supplies to make a truly “wow” card. By simply making this card base a card with an atypical open, you really up the “wow-factor”. For this style of card, cut your 8.5”x11” sheet of cardstock from the top right corner to the bottom left corner and score vertically at 5.5” and horizontally at 4.25”. From there, the beautiful dry-brush background stamp in Early Espresso creates a DSP-esque background (which is also cut diagonly, this time top left to bottom right). Finish your card by stamping your focal image and sentiment, layering them with some coordinating cardstock, and of course embellishments! I would like to thank Rhonda Eyers, my team member, for making this awesome swap card!

SIMPLY CHRISTMAS

SW_SimpleStamping_Aug2520.jpg

Getting a head start on your Christmas classes and projects? We have a suggestion as you start planning: keep it simple. Obviously, keeping your crafting simple saves time. But simple projects can also be simply beautiful—clean, fresh, uncluttered. Whether you’re a beginning stamper looking for something uncomplicated or an experienced stamper looking for something quick, you’ll love these projects!

To create these cards and the belly band for the Rectangle Tin, all you need are stamps, ink, paper, and punches. Stamp, cut, adhere—that’s it! Simple doesn’t mean boring, and these projects are evidence of that. Designer Series Paper quickly adds colors and patterns, and punched shapes add interest. And because these projects are simple, it’s easy to make multiples.

Make it Monday - Zoo Globe

MM_8.24.20.jpg

This card features the cute animals from the Zoo Globe set. The design really shows off the versatility of the stitched rectangles dies which showcase each of the animals in a “window” type fashion. I really like how each of the animals are stamped in their corresponding color, really brings a subtle pop of color to the card front. What you you think of this card? I think Lisa Piper, one of my team members, really knocked it out of the park. This design would make for a great “sketch” to keep on hand for a wide variety of designs when you need a quick card!

All You Can Tag Buffet

It’s that time of year to get your tags and cards ready, because from now until the end of the year, you won’t be able to get enough! The Tag Buffet Stamp Set is perfect for anyone. And if you’re looking for a simple way to add variety to your projects, with just a few sheets of cardstock and your trusty Paper Trimmer, you can easily create three unique cards to highlight multiple stamps from this set.For all of the cards above, we started with:

  • Tag Buffet Stamp Set

  • The same ink colors (Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flamingo, Poppy Parade, Tuxedo Black Memento Ink)

  • Wonder of the Season Ribbon Combo Pack (gold cord)

  • Poppy Parade card base (3-1/2" x 5"; 8.9 x 12.7 cm)

  • Coastal Cabana Cardstock (3-1/2" x 1"; 8.9 x 2.5 cm)

  • Shimmery White Cardstock (3" x 3"; 7.6 x 7.6 cm)

  • Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper (2-1/2" x 4"; 6.4 x 10.2 cm)

Ornament Card
Stamp, color, layer, adhere. This card is sure to please any stamper.

’Tis the Season Card
No trimming necessary. Switch the orientation of the card, stamp different images, and tie a bow.

With Love Card
Trim the Designer Series Paper into two 1-1/4" x 4" (3.2 x 10.2 cm) pieces and cut notches into the Coastal Cabana Cardstock.

What can you create with these same parts and pieces?

Make it Monday- Pretty Parasol

Sometimes you don’t need much more than some basic cardstock to make a wow-card! By using dies to cut out various shapes, you can easily transform your cardstock into a great focal for a card. The beautiful parasol and the flowers to coordinate make for a great statement that contrasts great from the plain, sentiment only side of the card. I just love how the brick embossed on the end adds another great texture to the card! Special shout-out to Bonnie Les Perance, a member of my team, for creating this great design featuring the Pretty Parasol set!

A CARD FOR EVERY CRAFTER

08.11.20_SUCCEED_WEEKLY_SMALL.jpg

Check out these awesome cards featuring the beautiful Love of Leaves set. Stampin’ Up’s dies have become so beautiful and detailed, I especially love the stitched elements! Our supplies are so versatile and perfect for any skill level!

Beginner and Casual Crafter Card
Stamp a leaf in Cajun Craze ink on the front of a Very Vanilla card base and use the dies to add details. Adhere a piece of striped Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper to the left edge of the card. Stamp a sentiment in Early Espresso ink on Mint Macaron Cardstock, and punch it out using the Label Me Fancy Punch. Adhere the label, wrap ribbon around the card, and tie a bow!

Avid Crafter Card
Cut stitched lines into the Very Vanilla Cardstock. Stamp leaves in Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, and Mint Macaron ink on a separate piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock and die cut them using the Stitched Leaves Dies. Use VersaMark ink to stamp the label, sprinkle with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and arrange the pieces onto the card. Finish with Wonderful Gems!

Stepped Up Avid Crafter Card
Emboss the Very Vanilla Cardstock with the Tin Tile 3D Embossing Folder before adding gold foil accents and other layers. Before tying ribbon around the card, add an Acorn Trinket. Replace Crumb Cake ink with Early Espresso ink when stamping leaves, and punch a label from a Gold Foil Sheet embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. Split up the sentiment, then arrange and adhere the pieces!

Make-it Monday - Christmas in July

Christmas in July 2020 pine.jpg

We are over half-way to Christmas and honestly it will be here before we know it! Sending Christmas cards is a great way to show someone that you care and there is no better way to do so than to send a handmade Christmas card. Plus making Christmas cards is a great opportunity to sit down, design a few cards and get some good use out of your supplies. Maybe you aren’t ready to start making your holiday cards, but this July I challenge you to get a head start on preparing to do so because when it gets down to the wire it is just to easy to skip it, and we just don’t want that! Make a design, decide how many you need to send and put together a shopping list that way when the holiday gets closer and you’re in the mood to make, it’ll be so much easier to accomplish!

What do you think of this beautiful card from my recent Christmas in July card class? The traditional Christmas colors take center stage in this woodland design which is accented by stunning metallic pine cones and boughs. Let this design inspire you to kick off your holiday card making; CASE (Creatively and Selectively Edit) this card or make a design all of your own then don’t forget to show it off!

Step it Up

Our new annual catalog has something for everyone! Take a look at these samples using the Ridiculously Awesome Stamp Set.

If you are casual or beginner crafter, try the Whisper White card; it’s perfect for you! If you want to take it to the next level, use hand-cut layers and embossing folders. From there, bring in the dies and more fussy cutting.

The annual catalog is full of fun projects just like these. Pick a few and step them up on your own. What you do is up to you!
